Engineering You Future

IIT‐IIM Alumni Association in Kuwait kicked off its new initiative – “Engineering Your Future”, an awareness program aimed at exposing the young students to various career options in the fields of engineering and technology, thereby helping them make an informed career decision.

An inaugural session was conducted on Sunday 26th April at the Indian Central School, Jleeb Al‐Shyoukh, and was attended by students of 9th, 10th and 11th standards from the school. The event started with a brief introduction by Ashish Verma, an IIT Bombay alumnus and General Secretary of the Association, who explained the program’s objectives. Sharing his own journey as an engineer who transitioned into a management role, Siddartha Prasad, an IIM Ahmedabad alumnus, delivered an eloquent presentation highlighting the various career options and the associated rewards that a career in engineering entails, and the specific areas that a student should focus on. Ashish Jain, an IIT Madras alumnus and the initiative’s chief organizer, responded to various queries from the students and shared anecdotes from his own personal experience.

The presentation, which the young audience appreciated a lot and hopes to benefit from, was designed based on the feedback from the association’s members who themselves have had rewarding careers in the fields of engineering and technology. Dr. Shantha Maria James, ICS principal, provided her full support to the initiative and thanked the association members for their efforts. The initiative has been possible due to the untiring behind‐the‐scene efforts of Ramanjit Anand (IIT Bombay, IIM Bangalore), Abhinav Daharwal (IIM Bangalore) and Imran Shaik (IIM Calcutta). The association plans to conduct similar sessions in other Indian schools in near future.
